SECO Technical Advisory Board

Fil the gap to bring research and industry together

SECO Technical Advisory Board (TAB – Technische Raad – Conseil Technique) is composed by University professors (Belgian or foreigners) chosen for their relevant expertise with SECO activities.

The TAB is the highest technical decision-making body within SECO and acts in complete independence. The members are prominent academic figures with clear scientific track records in the corresponding field.

The origins of the Technical Advisory Board

The TAB has been initially founded to discuss any technical question, general issues or interpretation of exceptional cases and formulate independent advices. The TAB contribution is also required when there is a scientific controversial issue between SECO and the design or execution teams. Additionally, the TAB has been commissioned the awarding of scientific Prizes, namely Magnel.

Since the foundation, the TAB is a unique board and a major asset allowing SECO to bridge the gap between practitioners and the theoretical approach. However, in recent years, SECO have significantly grown, expanded their activities and became an international group. Concurrently, the construction sector has dramatically changed and new technologies, methods or challenges have emerged as well. SECO own activities have evolved from audit to more and more advice. The TAB has an important role to play to support SECO in these challenges.

Be a unique bridge between academia and practitioners and provide independent scientific or technical advices and opinions on any questions related to the construction sector.
