The project for the extension of the quay wall C in the port of Montevideo (Uruguay) has drawn the attention of the recent binational Belgian Economic Mission presided by HRH Princess Astrid. The economic mission covered both Argentina and Uruguay and extended from the 23rd to the 30th of June 2018.
On the 29th of June, the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade & Investment for the Brussels-Capital Region, Minister of the French Community Commission in charge of Civil Service and Health Policy, HE Cécile Jodoigne, together with an official delegation, visited the ongoing works in the port and was guided around by SECO. The visit was attended by representatives of the National Port Authority ANP and the main contracting consortium of contractors for the construction of the civil works (Solétanche-Bachy, SACEEM and Dredging International).
In 2016, the consortium was awarded the project to build the extension of Muelle C which will add 180m to the existing berth (332m). Construction is scheduled to be completed by 2019. The intervention of SECO is related to the civil works and started in 2018. It is performed for the account of ANP. SECO has started its assignment in 2017 and the assignment now includes, apart from the review of the design process, also the inspection on site.
