Project

The new chicory processing plant houses about 40 main buildings:

  • About 20 blocks related to the process
  • About 15 tanks and silos used as storage for the products and the effluent
  • 6 ponds used to collect the water coming from the process and the water waiting for further processing
  • The plant infrastructure (roads, fencing...)

The foundations are partly built on piles and partly directly on the natural soil. Structural elements include steel (blocks) and reinforced concrete (building). The design takes into account the seismic activity linked to the geographic location.

Assignment

SECO’s assignment consisted in the design review of the closed main fabric in a seismic environment and some specific techniques (use of geotextile, water flow management).
